I’d like to talk about the most frequently talked about today –
A theme that seems to be in everything. Do they mean what they say?
It’s been said that it’s better to be trusted than loved and I’d have to agree.
Because love is abused, and that word’s overused, and it’s been getting to me.
She tells him that she loves him
‘cause he always buys her everything she needs.
But then the wants become needs
And the poor sucker’s broke, because she needs everything she sees.
They call it love, but they’re wrong, ‘cause when the money’s all gone.
She decides that he’s not for her and she leaves.
Don’t tell me that you love me. I don’t know what that means,
‘Cause there’s a billion definitions and conditions.
They don’t mean a thing.
But tell me that you trust me, and I’ll sweep you off your feet,
‘Cause you’ll be there when I call. And that’s what I need.
He tell her that he loves her,
but he spends time with another every Tuesday night.
And every now and again he’s got to make his amends
So they don’t fight.
But she’ll stay with him ‘cause these words are so genuine.
And it’s said that love is blind.
And everybody spends so much time
Talking about the way she moves.
The comments fly as she walks by,
We’ll suppose it’s cause they like her shoes.
But she assumes as well that they mean what they tell her.
She doesn’t have a clue, no, no, no.
They don’t have a clue, no, no, no.
We don’t have a clue, no, no, no.
The world don’t have a clue. |
