Tie me up in chains, put me in a box, take me to the zoo.
We'll go see all the animals and all the things they do.
Every single day, all the children pay to see what they can see.
And push their faces 'gainst the glass while watching carelessly.
People usually run and hide from lions, tigers, bears, oh my.
But things are far more dangerous, on the other side.
And even though our skin's so thin - we're only six feet tall,
The human is the deadliest of all.
Now in the zoo today, the creatures on display hardly make a move.
Afraid they'll scare the humans. Who knows what they might do?
While on the other side the humans take such pride in their human minds.
But that's what makes them deadlier than all the zoo combined.
Maybe we should run instead from those with evil in their heads.
It's beasts of greed and jealousy that lurk beneath our beds.
And even though we lack fur coats, we're relatively small
The human is the deadliest of all.
Maybe we could float away
to another distant place
Where the animals run free,
and the humans all behave.
Maybe it will be the day
When I lie down in my grave
Start my way on up to heaven.
Where's heaven?
Where's heaven?
Tie me up in chains, put me in a box, take me to the zoo.
We'll go see those deadly killers - of course not me or you.
It's a lie, it's a lie, it is all a lie.
You can try, you can try, try to tame that beast inside.
Inside
Take me to the zoo. |
